It's that time of year again to start thinking about Easter projects... I have revised the tutorial I wrote a few years back and it's posted on the SPLITCOASTSTAMPERS website starting today...

Beate said this may possible is the longest tutorial they have ever posted... I really tried to combine and pair down some of the steps. Sorry all but you will love the result. If you just can't wait for the Carrots to be in-stock in the stores you can alter the project for St. Patricks day or for any other holiday for that matter.. How fun if you made it into a picnic basket Ooooo so cute.... I didn't get a video tutorial made SOOOO SORRY . I just can't get my camera and the Mac to work together.. We did just recieve an new little gadget called a BLOGGIE TOUCH from SONY but we haven't had time to try it out yet.. It's the SONY version of a FLIP camera... We will be trying it our on our Cruse in 2 weeks.... YAAA!

This is a huge factor for me when I am shopping for photo cards..

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #100 Pride and Prejudice

Welcome to the 100th challenge.

What an amazing adventure this ride has been.. I still remember my sweetheart telling me a girl named Sankari called for you.... I think my jaw hit the floor.. What? I said.. She sill call you back again later? I had met this beautiful girl through Kristina Werner's Color challenge. We had shared sweet exchanges with one another and we had both noticed that we had been listing what movie we had been watching at the bottom of our posts.. When I finally got the return call I was just completely excited and in shock at the same time... Once I heard the voice on the other end of the phone.. I felt like I was being reunited with one of my oldest and dearest friends ever. We talked for hours and hours.. AMAZING!!! At this point I find it really hard to have more than a couple days go by and not here that ray of sunshine on the other end of the phone.. I truly have the dearest and sweetest friend ever... And do you want to know the hardest part of it all.. We have never meet in person.. I know!!!! We live SOO far from each other. WE WILL MEET heart to heart some day.. WE WILL...

My project inspired my the 100th challenge

Jane Austen's

PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

First you have no idea how hard it is to narrow it down to one inspiration.. I think we chatted for hours on what to pick for you all... We just love so many things about this move... AND THANKS to all of you who voted for this movie.. It's only the best movie EVER!

When I was chatting to my sweet DH about what to make he really dove into this challenge.. He suggested that I make something about Elizabeth's muddy boots and hemline.. He though it really reflected what she was all about.. A bold young lady who wasn't afraid to do what ever she wanted even if she was told it wasn't what a young lady should do... But yet she was still refined and elegant... I love that idea but really couldn't wrap my brain around what I would make with that in mind.. So we chatted a little more and though that the letter exchanged between Mr Darcy and Elizabeth was a really great place to start...

If you can imagine with me you might even agree that Ms Bennett(Elizabeth) would have most defiantly keep the letters she had received from Mr Darcy. She would have savored every work wether she agreed with them or not. She would have analyzed the penmanship and tried to make out what kind of a gentleman he really was... I think she would have keep them with her when she traveled as well. She would have made a special box to keep them in fashioned out of some of the trimmings that she and her sisters would have had on hand to make bonnets and bows... I would like to think that the secret piece of lace was from a dress that she might have been wearing and maybe even been noticed in my Mr Darcy... My sweetheart and I also agreed after her visit to Pemberly that she would have kept this picture in her keepsake box as well. She would have had to draw her picture but we will share one of our favorites from our trip to Pemberly... My Sweetie also quoted "And to think... Of all this I might have been mistress"

p.s. If you haven't guessed yet.. My Sweetheart and I BOTH love all things Jane Austen... Luck me...

OOOOOhhh the heart-ach these two cause.. I love every minute of it...

This last year when my grandfather passed we were able to have a few of my grandparents for keepsakes.. When I noticed these little Jane Austen era pictures I totally wanted them.. I remembered these as a little girl. My Maternal grandmother had made them for my paternal grandmother... What a sweet connection I can now think of them both as I look at these pictures and share my love of Pride and Prejudice...

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #98 - Dead Poet's Society

What a great movie full of legendary quotes... "Captain my Captain" and [quoting Henry David Thoreau] "I went to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life." and so on.. You can check out sooo many great quotes here that you can use for your inspiration.. My card is full of inspiration from this movie.. I started with the color scheme and used a more masculine one since the school is an all boys school. I used a script background to represent the words of poetry from Mr. Keating's (Robin Williams) class.

The sentiment reflects all the changes and new knowledge that all the boys are experiencing. The stripped D.S.P. even made me think of a mans shirt. Then the finishing piece of inspiration on my card is the felted wool butter fly.. The butter fly represents the main character Neil (Robert Sean Leonard). Neil has alway done what his father and everyone else wants him to do. He finally finds the courage to see who he really is and take great joy in doing so... You could say it is a transformation of sorts but not without a price . Neil is a caterpillar that turns into a butterfly.. I also chose this piece of felted wool because it reminded me of a blazer that the boys might wear for their uniforms. Don't forget the corduroy button that you might find on a professor/teachers jacket. Sooo many great things you can find in this movie for inspiration.. I could make another card just about the play that Neil preforms in...

In the words of Neil: "For the first time in my whole life, I know what I wanna do! And for the first time, I'm gonna do it! Whether my father wants me to or not! Carpe diem! "

"The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints".

The Teachings of Jesus Christ.

We are able to watch it right in our very own homes on T.V. every 6 months. To keep the little kids interest over the 2 days and 8 hours of viewing I have found a few activities to keep them focused.. I guess I know what I will be doing for the next few days... Getting activity packets prepared.. We also love to play Conference Bingo at our house.. The kids listed really closely to hear the message and find the words on their bingo chart. Maybe it's all the sweets but I hope to think it the tradition.

I am "NUTS" about you.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY HUMAN"

I think my favorite part of the Iron Man series is watching the chemistry between Tony and Pepper... Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow or defiantly two of my favorites.. Robert can totally pull off the arrogant wealthy social-light and Gwyneth is so good at playing a strong but elegant women. The little robot reminds me of Tony Stark's soft side.. He is forever taking Pepper Potts for granted and has to ask for her forgiveness. The 3 hearts are Tony and Peppers of course. The little metallic heart is Tony's Iron Man heart.. Pepper is always trying to keep all of Tony's hearts in check.. The color scheme is Iron Man inspired of course.. All the Silver reminds me of the FIRST Iron Man attempt all metal..

My inspiration came from the classic colors of a western with a Princess twist. I can help but see Grace as a Princess in what ever I watch... In the movie Amy(Grace Kelly) is most defiantly not a princess but a simple quaker girl.. She is totally against all violence and doesn't want her new husband Will (Gary Cooper) to be the Marshal anymore. It take the whole movie to convince he that the wishes of his wife are the way to go.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #94 ~ Sleepy Hallow

Card inspired by the movie~ Sleepy Hallow.

I saw this movie last year on t.v. for the first time and my first thought was WOW Christina Richi is so pretty as a blonde. She really has grown up. This was one of her big breakout rolls as a young lady and not as teen/child.. And Jonny is well Jonny in this movie.. There is somethings to say about a Depp/Burton movie.. You know it's going to be a little twisted and dark. The color in this movie are mesmerizing and has that same deep or should we say "DEPP" undertone that we have grown to love in the Burton/Depp movies... If you are going into this movie thinking you follow along the same lines as the Disney store from 1949 then think again.. This has so much for DEPPth. If I was to create another card for this movie I think I would make a card with very sublet color and use more grey tones.. So many option for this challenge.. Enjoy getting in the Halloween spirit enjoy the show.

Little Red's Summer Picnic ~ My Cute Stamps

How Cute is this little Red image.. I was the lucky winner of little miss red a while back from one of my favorite stamps company's "MY CUTE STAMPS". Holly has really great images for kids and adult cards.. I have made some really cute cards using her images. The recipients have all commented how CUTE the image's are.. When I was looking for a sketch to get me going I looked on Karen SWEET SUNDAY sketch and I had that Ah Ha! moment.. PERFECT! Thanks Karen and her guest sketch artist for a perfect match. Check out the sketch challenge and make your own card HERE!

All my Stampin' Up and Sizzix Flowers dies and Stampin' Up Ribbon were also a must.. I used the Birds and Blooms, and Flowers #4 dies. When I went to grab the twine to attach the Summer Picnic label the little red and white bakers twine was staring up at me. Perfect touch don't you think! The flowers were topped of with Ink and Rhinestone brads.

Red was colored using Copic markers..

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #93 ~ ANNIE

This is one of the first movies I remember going to as a kid... I got to the VILLA Theater a GIANT screen... It was a classic old movie house with red curtains and everything.. I remember the opening credits still.. The songs from this movie will forever be in the heart of girls everywhere... While I researched this movie I found out that Aileen Quinn is the same age as I am.. That means we were both 9 when she made this movie... Most of the little ladies never did go on to do any other movie.. This was there 1 hit wonder... I would say they were all immortalized and will remain in the heart of kids for years still to come.. My kids have all loved this movie and I am sure their kids will too. Grab the little ones and snuggle up together and watch this classic.

I pick this little snippet because it was my most favorite part of the movie when I was younger..

We even got to do this very scene in dancing and all in Jr high for choir...

(don't forget if you don't have access to this movie you can watch all 13 segments of it on YOUTUBE...)

When I was searching for Friday's sneak peek photos I finally decided on my inspiration for this card... Annie's dress! RED with black and white trim. GOOD LUCK to you all there are soooo many cute thing to get inspiration from.. I really wanted to incorporate the locket as well hence the little hearts on my card.. The I love you is for the sweetest and funniest part of the movie.. The sweetest part of of course the "I LOVE YOU DADDY WARBUCKS"! & "I LOVE YOU ANNIE".. The funny part is the way the little orphans tell Ms. Hannigan "We love you Ms. Hannigan" And she never believes then... The Congrats is on the grand uniting of a family... CONGRATS on the adoption of Annie.

Ok everyone.. You are witnessing 2 miracles. 1st I scrapbooked !!! 2nd I finally got time to play with my "My Digital Studio" software from Stampin' Up...

To make the scrapbook process a little less painful I decided to re-create a page I had already made in paper... I only had to make a few changes and get creative with others... If you are new to any scrapbook program and want to NOT use a template/drag and drop method I highly recommend the digi-redo method like I did..

On another note...

My youngest baby started 1st grade today...

I took this picture on our walk to school.. What a tough guy... Looks like a LION, but such a LAMB... I am going to miss my little buddy SOOOO much...

I am almost to tall for my desk...

My baby girl started Jr High yesterday for the 7th graders only. Today she got to spend the day home with me by herself. Who told her she could grow up!!!

I love her new glass she got for school. Her eyes sparkle.. Especially with the touch of Mascara that a new Jr High girl get to wear now... Notice the peace sign around her neck.. She is totally Obsessed with Peace Signs... What a DOLL!

Today My second BABY started High school... He has been so excited all summer just thinking about it... When he got home today he said it was really cool... He is so sweet he said "Mom I am going to work so hard because form this year on it REALLY counts and I want good grades to get in college".

OK Here is the KICKER... Today my first born baby started his SENIOR YEAR!!!! That can't be possible.. I remember Kindergarten like it was yesterday... Boo Hoo.. I still can't believe that he could possible be old enough to have memories of High School and of Life that I did just yesterday RIGHT???? I am not that old am I???

This picture was taken right after school. I did miss my little man. But I don't think it will sit in until a couple of days.. Probably next week.. DH took of the next few days so I don't have to be alone... My littlest was so worried that I would just sit home a cry all day because he wasn't here anymore. He thinks how could life go on with out him here... What a sweetheart...

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #92 Napoleon Dynamite

Sense our challenge this week was to make a pocket/container card I decided to make Napoleon a little backpack card for the first day of school..

This is Napoleon backpack that he found at the D.I.(local thrift shop) he thought it was FLIPPIN' SWEET... (Which is a total UTAH/IDAHO~ ism..)

What would Napoleon fill in this said backpack of his... Well CHAPSTICK of course because "My Lips hurt real bad" as he would say... Napoleon being the groovy nerd that he is would take the time to pick out very special pencils.. So I found some that honored Napoleon...

"OH MY HECK" (another UTAH/IDAHO~ism). Napoleon would have also pick out a few items for his locker.. These magnets should do the trick. That way he can have a picture of his favorite brother KIP who reminds him daily that he had mad computer skills and "Don't be Jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day" Napoleon...

Have you ever seen a LIGER? I have.. We have a stuffed on at a museum here in Utah.. I remember seeing SHASTA as it was called when I was little.. "Liger's are Mystical creators you know". ( at least Napoleon thinks so)

This movie is one of those cult movies you just don't get the first time you see it.. But even days later you find yourself laughing at a line or scene from the movie and you get sucked into watching it again and laughing your head of... This movie cracks me up the little town of Preston, Idaho is just over the border from Utah.. So basically this little town was just like any little town in Utah.. Any yes the saying are really said.. Like HECK YA instead of HELL YA. You wouldn't want to swear now would you.. LOL. One of my favorite scenes of all time is Napoleon doing the dance for Pedro's campaign.. Laugh you butt(as we would say in Utah/Idaho~ism's) funny. John Header is such an amazing character actor.. How could you not laugh you pants of while making this movie...

50 IS NIFTY

This week we celebrated my sister in law's 50th Birthday. I knew there was going to be a LOT of black involved like black balloons, black streamers, "50" signs, OLD signs etc. My Brother-in-law also borrowed a wheelchair and walker for her to use during the party.. She was such a great sport.. I decided to not add to the grief but up life her on her "50th" birthday. I used one of her favorite colors blue for the inspiration.

When I think of Gandhi I think of simplicity and the color white. Gandhi is such a dedicated example of peace with out violence.. When in South africa he was unfairly treated because he was an Indian... He lead a non-violent movement to gain equal rights for the Indian people in South Africa. Gandhi was invited to return home and help bring India's it's Independence from the British Empire. Gandhi agrees and again approached the effort without violence. He faced many troubles along the way and is even imprisoned.

When India is trying to define who was during the early years of it's rebuild as a nation there is a huge conflict between the Hindus and the Muslims.. It erupts into a nation-wide violent upheaval. Gandhi declares a hunger strike, saying he will not ear until the fighting stops..

A defining moment for me is Gandhi's conviction to non-violence.. He will forever live in his example of peace and wisdom.

I hope you all enjoy this movie and leave enlightened with peace and a new way to solve conflict as I did.

My inspiration for the card started with the sparkle of course... My own personal inspiration started with the dresses that Yvaine(Claire Danes) wore in the move.. When the star(Yvaine) falls down to earth she is wearing a gorgeous grey/silver satin dress. Then when Yvaine and Tristan are rescued by a ship of lighting pirates she is given a pick of any dress she wants from the captions(Robert De Niro) own personal stash... LOL She picked a gorgeous Royal Blue dress. The crown represents the brothers fight for the crown. The stick pin represents the stone around Yvaine that will turn into a Ruby when the last prince becomes king.. You will have to watch to find out who will become king... Last but not Least the star is an obvious inspiration Yvaine.. In the Beginning Tristan tells the girl that he thinks he loves(Victoria) that he will cross the wall and get her the fallen star to proved his love to her.. But when he meets the star the story takes a twist...

Beautiful Butterflies

HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!!!

I have been cleaning out my studio and re-organizing all my paper. I need to clean of my desk so I can SEE my Cricut Expression.. I forget I even have it most of the time. I've had a few gently reminders to get that machine dusted of an get using it. A few weeks ago I was shopping at ROBERTS CRAFTS and I won a FREE Cricut cartridge. Then I was notified from Amy that I won a cricut cartridge she was giving away.. I AM SOOOO EXCITE to play with the cartridge Amy is sending.. It a Home decor cartridge... I bought a pack of vinyl a year and a half ago at the scrapbook expo and I have never used it... I think it might just get cut very soon.

During all this cleaning I decided to get to a project I have had in mind and sitting on my desk for well over a year.. We took the family to the Zoo a few weeks ago and I really studied the butterfly and bug collections there. I love all the vibrant colors and patterns on the wings of the butterflies. I decided that the "Mariposa" paper pack from "Die-cuts with a view" would be a perfect collection of paper to use.. When I had this project in mind I had the traditional version of a collection in mind but wanted to really give it a twist.. I decided to go with a flight pattern. And Rainbow color order as well. I am thrilled with the way it turned out.. The Lattice

die-cut from Stampin' Up was a great fit to jazz up the white background with out taking away from the butterflies..

When I was done I had a gathering of butterflies staring up at me from my desk.. So I decided to make a few little cards to showcase the little guys.. I Love Kraft paper it just makes everything look amazing...

Who doesn't love a good BOND movie... Even with all the years of watching them marathon style with my dad I still LOVE James Bond... When I think of Bond.. I think of Shaun of course.. Shaun Connery... (MY Heart beats fast...) My D.H. is really enjoying the new Bond Daniel Craig.. And I agree with

Sankari did you notice the little liquid pearls.. he,he.. I was so excited to have a project to use them on so I can be just like you... LOVE YOU my favorite girl...

him for sure.. He really makes the secret agent thing work for him quite nicely... It's defiantly easier to buy that he is a spy and not just a ladies man... This Bond gets tortured, has real blood and scars, and gets down and dirty and still comes out on top... The new Bond movies have GREAT actions scenes... Hope they hurry up and make a new one....

This weekend is my D.H.'s Birthday so this card is for him.. Totally fitting for my man of mystery... He is 007 and melts my heart... I am LUCKY to have him. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Just so you all SU Friends know.... I miss you all to death.. I had no idea that I would be thinking about convention all day long every day... HAVE SOME FUN FOR ME...

My sweet friend Julie that I still get to see :) We carpooled last year and had sooooo much fun chatting and hanging out together. If you love the card displays thank Julie she helped put them together. Can't wait to see you soon... She even picked my up a couple little goodies what a SWEET friend... MISS HANDING OUT at Convention with you!!!! LOVE YOU JULES... She and here daughter share a special day with me.. Their b-day and my Anniversary.. Angie and I fist meet from Kristina's color challenge.. I have always been in ahhhhhhhhh of her talent and style. I love her modern take on her cards. She always leaves me the sweetest messages as well... Angie was an ARTISAN AWARD last year.. Sure wish I could have a face to face chat with here again soon.... I would love to have my kiddos have her for a school teacher.. Can you imaging the art projects.... WOWERS! You can find her here..

Both Roxy(corinne) and I are missing this year... She has a MUCH better excuse that I... One of her beautiful daughters is getting married in 3 weeks!!! How exciting... Her daughter is one lucky girl to have such a talented mum how would take the time to make such fabulous things for her wedding like hand embossed napkins. Roxy is so down to earth and genuine if you read her blog you will fell like you are an old friend.. She is SOOOO ADORABLE...

Melanie(ONE OF MY FAVORITES EVER!!!) Mel made my first and ever sense with SU the best.. Thanks for taking be under you wing. Mel works for SU she put together all the card displays with other cute girls. She has to work convention this year so if you see her say hi from me :) LOVE YA. And SWEET Daphne who is one of the kindest ladies you will ever meet.. She is to thoughtful she always sends me birthday cards... FROM HAWAII.... Daphne just moved back to the states...

AND I am always in AHHH of the Queen.. Patty is so dang COOL. If I lived in the bay area I would join one of her stamp groups... The first year I met Patty I was star struck... I got up the nerve to introduce my self to her swap card she had posted.. I gave her one of my swaps and she even let me get a picture with her.. Later she hunted me down and gave me one of hers.. That totally made my day!!! This picture is not our first together and I look like a dork but I had to just show this picture of her smile... She ALWAYS looks this happy.. MISS YOU PATTY.

Pam is so cool... She has GREAT up-line get together. She is my up-line. We get to stamp together at here house a couple time a year. But his year I have been so busy I haven't been able to go. Not even last week when she was having a cram for convention get together... Hope all goes well for you in your presentation. You are always so fun to watch.... Pam thanks for thinking of me last year. What an honor to get invited to become a designer for SU. You totally ROCKED my world.... I Wish it could have all worked out so I could see you more.. What a blessing you gave to me to go through the interview process and get to be in the inner sanctum.. I loved with all my heart the panel interview.. I grew so much. I was so fun putting my resume in order and creating all the projects. I know that sound weird but it was sooooo fun.. I just couldn't do Full time... It wasn't meant to be.

There are SOOOO many amazing stampers/friends that I don't have picture with that I would LOVE to post... Like the Cutest Angela McKay We meet swapping cards... She had to coolest pirate card EVER! It's still one of my favorites I have ever swapped..

Note that this is NOT our doggie... Ours would be hiding under a chair or staying close to momma(me) because he is a frady cat... We call him the BOOB.. We have to shovel a patch in the snow so he can do his business because he would just stand there and shiver. He hates the snow.. Milo our dog is maybe 5 years old and was never trained. he lived with an older lady before we rescued him. He is a Rat Terrier and is a dog that is Trained to Rat... Well this guy is not Ratter... LOL Oh well we love him anyway... See the picture at the end of the post to meet Milo.. Our little stinker.

This is the cutest little dog trainer I know...

My sweetheart was talking to a co-worker about how much our littlest loves dogs. She said there was a huge show just down the street from us this coming saturday. She said have him come and I will let him run my dog through the training corse. All Zach could talk about for the whole week until and the whole week after what the dog show... He had the time of his life running the dog around. He did a GREAT job.

One of the funniest scenes in this movie comes from Fred Willard's character the dog show announcer.. He says... "To think in some countries these dogs are eaten" What kind of person would say that... This character has all sorts of kooky knowledge he shares throughout the show... Best in Show has so many big name actors that will make you laugh. Their character acting is hilarious. Here are just a few~ Eugene Levi, Jane Lynch, Catherine O'Hara, Fred Willard, Jennifer Coolidge, Etc.

I think it's funny how people take on the characteristics of their dog/pet... or do think people pick dogs/pets that match their personality? If that's the case.. I am a little lazy old man who can't do trick and doesn't share a dang thing... LOL!

MY Card inspired by the movie.

Who doesn't need a little Christmas in July..

I used the oval nest abilities to frame the cottage. Then added Martha Stewart Snow for a little extra detail.

The short and long of it all~ Two girls who have men trouble.... Swap homes. One in the US and the other in England. They each meet local guy to fall in love with.

I LOVE the movie "The Holiday" What a phenomenal cast.. I had only been home from England for a short while when this movie came out.. What torture this was. Our sweet friend was visiting from England and wanted to go to this movie... Twist my arm... What fun we had... When I was thinking about what to make the little cottage that IRIS lived in came to mind. So I just had to use this little cottage stamp from Stampin' Up. So much happens inside and out of this little cottage. Snow was a huge part of the humor in this movie.. I can just picture Amanda slipping and sliding on the snow in her high heels. Or Iris crying her guts out over a huge looser named Jasper... My favorite part of the England half of the movie is the Gorgeous house that Graham owns( I WANT IT!!) and the beautiful children he has.. Mister Napkin Head is such a sweet highlight... My Favorite part of the US half of the movie is the trio of Iris, Arthur and Miles.. I love how Iris and Miles fall for each other over their genuine admiration for Arthur. I love watching their relationship/friendship grow... Everyone deserves to find their perfect match. The one who loves to watch the same movies, vacation the same place, encourages you to be your best etc...

I hope you all enjoy this weeks movie. Have fun with a little CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!

BROOKE'S project inspired by the movie "Bend It Like Beckham"

LOVE this movie.. I can't tell you how many times I have created project while watching this movie.. I love cross culture movies. We all live in such a new and exciting world with so many opportunities. What would you do if you were a young girl who would rather play soccer/football than learn how to cook a full Indian dinner or find a husband? How would you feel if your mother was always trying to get you to wear a skirt of wear stop playing the sport you love.. This is a heart warming movie that will take you on their journey to find out who they are and help their families to understand who they are as well.

I know you are thinking WHAT does this have to do with a soccer/football movie.. When let me tell you... Jess is a beautiful young girl who is just emerging into a young woman. She is discovering what she love and what she want to do with her life. What better than Butterflies to represent coming into a new life. When we are young we are protected from the world by our parents and when we emerge as young adults and start to make our own choices we find out who we really are.

Secret side of my bookmark... Shhh...

Don't we all have dreams we would love to pursue? I know I do! Just like Jess I want my dreams to make me an even better version of who I am with out giving up my faith, tradition, and family. One of my dreams is to travel.... I find that even as I reflect on my dreams they are changing.. I have realized that I don't need to be rich or famous with anyone but my own little family.. I hope and dream that my children never look back and think... Why didn't mom do this or that.. And that they will ALWAYS know that they are LOVED and mom always wanted me to reach my goals and dreams. THAT will be one of my lives dreams and goals...

Here is the card that will hold my book mark. With a little butterfly quote to remind my to always spread my wings and fly!

Father of the Bride came out December 20th 1991. When We first saw this movie it was 1992 early spring and I was expecting our first child. I remember my sweetheart looking over at me with tears in his eyes. REality was just sinking in that this was going to be his reality some day. We needless to say we had a boy and then another boy and finally we had our little girl in 1998.. There is just something about a Father Daughter relationship that is so beautiful. I LOVED to go on errands with my dad growing up we would go to the car dealership and then got to lunch. Or go to the paint store, check on property or go see people that my dad had business with then lunch.. I loved going Ballooning with my dad and being part of his chase crew. It was soooo much fun. When It was time for me to go to college my dad wanted me to say home so I would fall in love with someone who would take me far from him. So I did and fell in love with an amazing young man that only lived a few miles away... The day before I got married my dad gave me a locket with my initial on it that hung from a bow. I pined it on my dress that I made for our wedding luncheon the next day. (not my wedding dress) I can totally see my dad and my sweetheart in Steve Martin when I watch this movie.. The heart-ache and longing for their little girl to not grow up and leave the nest. This move is a must see.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY DAD thanks for loving me and letting me go.

I just couldn't resist buying the GRAPHIC45 romance collection. I love the vintage wedding images. This card reflects the 1950's version of this move with Elizabeth Taylor and Spencer Tracy.

I love Julee's Verve sentiment "What the Caterpillar calls the end of the world, the Miracle calls the Butterfly." How fitting is that as a young woman emerges into a new bride and becomes a Woman and a Wife.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #83 ~ The Greatest Game Ever Played

This movie has so much power. It's a story about believing in yourself and not letting anyone take away who you are and what you have to offer. I don't even know if I have a favorite part there are lost of little moments that make this movie special. Francis is not encourage from his family to play golf his father tells him that Golf is not a way to provide the living you need, find a trade and provide a honest days wage. Francis (Shia LaBeouf) is told from a club gentleman, "You are a caddy. Golf is a Gentleman's game you are working class you will never play golf." He had to create any opportunity he could and prove that he was more of a gentleman than they were. The best part of the movie is that he NEVER gave up on his dream and proved he could beat anyone even a legend with the right opportunity. This is a GREAT family movie. It shows what hard work and passion can do if you just believe in yourself.

If only THIS Father had more time and money for Golf.... Ahhhh.

My poor sweetheart has had to look out onto a golf course from his office window for about 10 years of the last 15 and never even had the chance to golf on that course. He has worked for 2 different companies that have bordered that course ironically. He is just to crazy busy. Unfortunately Golf trips come very far and few for him.. On our Honeymoon we stayed at a resort that had a golf course so we decided to go to the driving range and hit a few balls.. I thought.... that look easy... Man was I SO WRONGE I felt ever hit of the ball throughout my whole body. I is truly a game you have to work at. We even decided to take a few golf lessons I didn't improve that much.. But we had fun doing it together. My boys enjoy going to the driving range with Dad to hit a few buckets. When My boys were younger they did a summer golf camp and really had a great time. I would love to say.... Take a day a month but time is precious and Golf is a ALL DAY event. He even had a change at a tournament last Friday for our eldest son's Fundraiser for Football and he just couldn't get his foursome together for the tournament intime. It's like the gods of golf are against him. One of these day sweetie you will get to have your Golf time :)

I found this perfect vintage Golf image from Grapic45.. LOVE Grapic45... and knew it was a perfect match for this movie and a "NOT" fussy Fathers Day Card for a Golf loving guy. Then the perfect inspiration starter ARGYLE. It's a golf must. I created the Argyle pattern paper by stamping the background with the Diamond pattern and drawing the thin lines to create the Argyle pattern.

I haven't played with my favorite girl Julee for quite a while so here is her challenge for the week. My layout inspiration for my Cinema challenge.

Brooke's Projects Inspired by the Movie~ Alice in Wonderland

Feast on this little snack while my other projects are baking.

I will be posting my final projects soon so please come back to see what's baking...

I have always enjoyed the movie of Alice and all her adventures. This just happens to be a couple of my favorite rides at Disneyland as well. The Adventure of Alice in Wonderland ride with all the neon light is fun but the Mad Hatter's tea cups are a MUST do. The lanterns and music just set the tone before you even set foot in the sauces...

We just bought the newest version of Alice this week and watched it as a family. What amazing photography and color. I love how the low light really play up the bold and bright colors. And the creative foursome that created/acted in this production are the NUTS ! How amazing are they all! (Tim Burton, Helena Bonham Carter, Jonny Depp, and Danny Elfman)!

Before Alice even wonders of and falls in to wonderland She is being told by everyone Whom, What, and where by everyone in her life.. You find yourself wanting to just tell her don't listed to any of them... One of my favorite scene in the movie was the tea party and I only wish it was longer.. But when you meet the Red Queen and you sit in her quart with her don't be surprised if she hollers for a pig! LOL.

As far as this weeks challenge is concerned this is a little summory of how I feel about creating a project/card for it:

"There is a place. Like no place on Earth. A Land of wonder, mystery, and danger! Some say to survive it: You need to be mad as a hatter". ( the Mad Hatter)

I could agree more.. Good luck trying what to make for this challenge.. I just sat there with a blank stare for a while.. THERE ARE SOOOOOOOO MANY THINGS YOU CAN GET CREATIVITY FROM YOU WILL GO MAD TRYING TO PIN DOWN JUST ONE OR EVEN TWO!

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #80 ~ Becoming Jane

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE All Things Jane Austen!!! When I sat down to make this card I wanted to add little elements from all her writings. Here are some of my little inspirations from the movie. When you received letters in Jane's time letters and envelops were closed with a SEAL. I used the letter "A" stamps to create my seal. In the Movie "Becoming Jane" Cassie gave Jane her PEARLS to help fund her escape with Tom Lefroy. Bouquets of flowers that are offered to her ladies in her books. Lace for all the amazing COSTUMES, Pattern paper for all the beautiful DRAPRIES and fabrics, In Jane's wedding scenes you will find doves. You can even find DOVES in appear in Mansfield park as an offering of Love. Birds were a status symbol in this time period. I added FABRIC LEAVES on this card to represent all the millinery work ladies of this time did to pass the time. I had so many things that I could add to represent Jane and her writings but I will just have to make more cards... Darn...

In the Movie "Becoming Jane" You find yourself hoping that she will marry.. But then have to remind yourself that she never will. I love this inside view into Jane's life. How she create all these different world that she was never apart of is just amazing... Jane had such a wonderful father who wanted nothing more that for her to be happy... Jane's Mother wanted her to find happiness as well. She just had a hard time showing it.. Jane and her sister Cassandra remained close there whole lives.. One thing you will come to admire about Jane through out this movie is here determination to be true to herself... Even if it's not fashionable....

HOW TO~

To create the seal I used a JUMBO brad. I applied Versamark ink to the brad then silver embossing powder and heat set and repeated 3 times. I then stamped the letter "A" on it.

A Huge shout out to KATHY from PIXIE PRESS STUDIO for being our guest designer and sponsor this week. I had so much fun coloring Kathy's digi image of Edward and Bella. I have to say I giggled a little bit when I came to upload my card.. Sankari and I think alike we both used the same image... I had the image colored last week and was sick when It was time to finish up the card and post. When I finished this card I had to laugh.. Bella is so not a girlie girl.. So I think Alice was my inspiration for this card. Alice is one of my favorite characters in this series. She is such a loving, caring, happy go luck girl who has such a passion for fashion. If you have read the series you will remember that Alice has no memory of her past. You will have to read the book to find out why if you don't know... So what you see is a pure and innocent girl if you can call a Vampire innocent. lol! When I was reading the book I really LOVED Edward then switched to Jacob and back to Edward.. But Hoped Bella would pick Jacob and snap out of the helpless and irrational person she had become.. when I watched the movie I was really rooting for Jacob. In the movie Edward doesn't come across as the same strong, hunky, rational person he is in the book. In the Movie he is just skinny, Not chiseled marble, and whiney. But I still love the movies anyway...

Mother's Day Fabric Flowers

Mother Day Inspired Necklace.

I made this necklace for my mother and myself for mother day.. I LOVE this new addition to my necklace collection. It's just so fun to wear. It's hard to see the center but it has a small rosette in the middle and the outer rose is a gathered 2"in by 45" strip of fabric.

I have had 66" chain I picked up at the craft store for a while know. I was going to make a necklace with fabric embellishment from the beginning. It took a little detour for the better when my sister Mindy sent me a tutorial on how to make a chain that ROCKED my world. I love the versatility of this chain... I can see so many Embellishment going through my head...

I love to make handcrafted things.. I inherited that trait from my mother, grandmother, and great grandmothers. They are all the most clever and crafty women I know. My mother and grandmother made so many beautiful things for us growing up weather it was clothing, bedding, bridesmaid dresses, flower arrangements, paintings, music boxes, quilts, furniture, gardening, cooking, and the list goes on... You can really get crafty when you need to be resourceful and stretch a dollar. All the women in my life including my mother-in-law are hard workers and have blessed me so much by their example of hard work and love of family and God.

Happy Mother Day to you all.. I hope you have a BEAUTIFUL day. I sure did! Before church all my kiddos gave me cards they had made. Then we headed to church.. My sweet little daughter snuck down to my studio and picked out all that she needed and made and designed her own little card... So SWEET! She is so crafty.. She is my tiny girl.. All the brothers are bigger than her.. Even her little brother out weighs her... She will start Jr High this fall and that breaks both of our hearts.. We are just not ready for her to grow up! I am so blessed to have such a sweet and beautiful and talented daughter.

My Little handsome young man (6 yrs old) made me a paper

flower bouquet and 2 beautiful cards. I sure will miss this little(big) guy next fall when he is in school the whole day.. Not sure what I will do with our my lunch and errand date. He told me "mom you are just going to cry all day when I am in 1st grade because you will miss me so much huh!" Break my heart.. And the answer is YES!!!

I am shrinking..... Well if feels like it.. My 17 year old is 6"2" at least he was 6 months ago... Now my 14 year old is neck and neck 5"9"ish.. He measure up ever to me every day to let me know that he will pass me any second. Mind you I have now shoes on here and they both do...

What a bunch of sweet guys. They are so good at giving hugs each night before bed and saying "Love you mom" each day. They are my biggest fans.. They always tell me how amazing I am at crafting and cooking... They have been that way sense they were very young. They will both make great dad's they are learning about so many thing weather it's how to fix your car to cooking, cleaning, and watching after kids they will be prepared to be good dads. They have a great example from their own dad.

My sweetheart DH gave me a new pocket camera! YAAAA I Love my SLR but some times it's just nice to have a good pocket camera just incase you need a photo opt that might me missed... I am super excited to get to know this little sony camera because it has the ability to record video up to 29 min... Sweet I know... We never use our Sony camcorder it's just to much to haul around not that is big..LOL

This next fall will be a whole new chapter in my life as a mom. I will have a senior in high school another starting high school, and little girlie starting Jr high and a 1st grader.. Lost to think about for sure.. But I guarantee that I will home for my kids.. This stage in life is more critical than ever. And while I am blessed to be a Full time stay at home mom I will do so.. I might have to be clever a find things to fill my time with things other than chore... BORRRING! I will have to force myself to get dressed first thing in the A.M., make a today list each day so I make sure to get things done... I plan on going to the Temple more, having more lunch dates with DH and girlfriends etc. Make more time to study the scriptures add that to my to do list. I will take more walks, finish the backs and bind the two quilts I have made. Lots to enjoy and think about.. I am so blessed to be a wife and mother this is truly a de vine calling from GOD.

When I think of Much Ado About Nothing I think of dancing and singing and merriment, heart break, scandal, sisterhood, brotherhood, wine, grapes, Italian countryside, natural colors, weddings, white blouses and music. I love the soundtrack from this movie. It's been years sense I have listened to it because it's on CASSETTE. LOL! When I was thinking about this card I knew I was going to keep it natural and simple. I wanted to bring in the windows and wooden beams so I choose to make a grind with Kraft paper. I used my Score-Pal to make the grid on the Kraft paper then used a sponge and ink to antique the paper. If you haven't used parchment I hope you are able to find some.. I love the feel of it. it's kind of a mix of card stock and vellum in texture and appearance. It looks really beautiful when you hold it up to the light. I found it at our local kraft store not expensive at all. I just had to add the little butterfly for the color and dimension not to mention how beautiful it is. Linen wine was a perfect addition to the natural theme.. I so wish that you could buy this in bulk.. I would use it on every thing... To create the flower on this card I used the "Birds and Bloom" die from S.U. then added ink to antique. followed by a brad. Finished up with the Mothers day sentiment from the "All Holidays" set from S.U.

I know you are thinking what does Mother day have to do with "Much Ado With Nothing" well it doesn't directly.. But as I was making this card I though it would be a beautiful Mother day card for my Mother in Law. She loves blue.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #77 America's Sweethearts

I have to say this was not one of my favorite movie of all time.. I though it was a really depressing movie actually.. One of the main things I drew from this movie was a "recipe" of what a good relationship really take to be successful. I felt like this movie was a "recipe" of how not to act. Wether it's you friend, sister or spouse.. You must always treat everyone the way you would like to be treated if not better. I have really been blessed to have found someone who treats me like the most important person in the world. And who has taught me to be a better person.

My Favorite part of this movie was the scene with KiKi and Eddie when they are having breakfast. Kiki has a realization that she has not been treated very good for quite some time. Eddie gives her a piece of toast he has buttered for her and she says. It this for me? No one has ever buttered toast for me. I don't like butter on toast but I am going to eat it because it's so amazing that you did that for me...

If only we could all think this way when people have done good for us and we don't exactly love what they have done and or given us...

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #76 ~ North by Northwest

Are you ready for another Alfred Hitchcock... That usually mean a cat and mouse chase.. This time it's a 2,000 mile chase for Rodger Thornhill(Cary Grant). Rodger is taken mistaken for a CIA agent when he tries to make a phone call to his mother.. Rodger is kidnaped my a group of fugitives and then is forces to be part of a 2,000 mile chase. He is helped along the way by a lovely lady named Eve. He has a long journey via trains, cars, and plains.. He is even chased down by a crop duster in a corn field. This chase all ends up in the black hill of South Dakota at Mount Rush more.

When I was doing a little research I noticed in my picture file that a year ago was our last Alfred Hitchcock move.. It's been far to long...

I got my inspiration from the first thing that came to mind from memory (the crop duster scene) It has Cary Grant in it that's why I remember the scene. He is really Dreamy... It's been a long time sense I have seen this movie I was surprised how much I had forgotten about it. It was great to watch this movie again.. There are lost of elements to get inspiration in this movie.. Hope you have a great time watching this classic with the hunky Cary Grant... Ahhhhh!

For this weeks card I was was inspired by the first and second verse of the song:

"Oh What a Beautiful Mornin' "

Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL MORNIN'

Oh, what a BEAUTIFUL DAY!

I've got a beautiful feelin'

Everything's goin' my way.

There's a bright, golden haze on the meadow

The corn is as high as an elephant's eye

And it look like it's climbing clear up to the sky.

This movie always surprises me... Each time I watch this movie I am reminded by some of the greatest songs ever written.. You know those songs you grew up hearing your mother/grandmother singing. Maybe you were even luck to have grown up in the era of AMAZING musical wonder... I think I was meant to been born in a different era for music and dance.. But I defiantly don't want to be June Cleaver.. I have the most AMAZING husband that is very much a partner in all things... Plus I just can't see doing all the house work in heals.. I would be over 6 ft tall if I did.. LOL

Back to the movie... Shirly Jones is so adorable as Laurey. She has the most amazing waist line in yikes! She can sing and dance and really bring the character to life.. And Gordan McCray as Curly has the most Romantic voice... Swoon here <3>

This little romantic western musical is a hoot.. Laurey and Curly have to fight to keep there relationship strong and also help Ado Annie from running of with the new peddler that just came to town... And she just "Cain't say NO" This song is so whinny it will crack you up.. I remember a classmate audition for a musical singing this song.. We all had a giggle over the song at the time.. Then you have the typical scene where all the girls are up in the bedroom getting ready for the dance etc and stressing over if the guy is going to like them or not... All around this is just one of those wonderful family movie ALL can watch together and make great memories together..

In February I was at Old Navy looking for a few birthday gifts. When I came to a Ribbon and pearl set. I thought.... I can make that... So off to the craft store to purchase pearls and ribbon.. And WALAA! for less than the price of the bracelet I made both pieces shown here. So fun and trendy with out the sticker price attached...

There are so many great hand crafted jewelry pieces out there just keep your eyes open.. I bet you can make them for less as well.

Mojo Monday #134 ~ Gratitude

What a fun sketch... I had so much fun creating this card using Teresa Klines Sketch for Julee's 134th Mojo Monday. This card has so many layers and that's what made it so fun to play with. I decided to use that to my advantage. I haven't really played with the new paper pack (Sweet Pea) I ordered from the the Stampin' Up occasional mini catalog so I broke it out and WOW are there are SOOO many fun papers to choose from. If you haven't seen it you HAVE too.. It's soo Yummy!! You can see it here.

I also made my watermark on Stampin' Up's "My Digital Studio" cool huh!

The flowers were made using the "Flower Layers" Big Shot die from Stampin' Up.

I used the stamp set "Beautiful You" by Verve' I love Julee's sentiments they are so heartfelt.

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #74- UP

What a sweet movie this is.... When shy Carl meet spunky Ellie he had now idea how much his life would change... It became the adventure of a life time.... From the first pinning of the "Ellie badge" Carl was part of a life long friendship. In the end the encouraging words Ellie wrote to Carl in the her Adventure book help him to change his life and reach out to change a life of another...

When Carl Lost the Love of his life he just couldn't move on. Carl decided to take his WHOLE house with him.. Little did he know that the little 8 year old wilderness scout Russell was a stowaway. These to are quite the odd couple on this little adventure.. Russell drives Carl nuts just my being his 8 year old self. They find a few little companion along the way.. Kevin a mother bird becomes their mission. The gang is trying to help Kevin back to her baby birds when her hunter shows up and just another adventure begins... To find our how this movie end you will just have to watch it... It's just a sweet reminder of how much we need others in our life....

Stampin' Up Artisan Award "09" Entry Easter Basket Tutorial

Happy Easter Weekend everone.. I wanted to share a FREE tutorial with you all for Easter...

Last I entered the Stampin' Up Artisan Award contest and all my projest were on display except 2. One being my bell jar will butterflies and flowers.. Some one of the big wigs fell in love with it at the S.U. Headquarters and had to have it for their desk... You can see a picture of it here. Sure wish I got to keep it I think it was pretty amazing... Glad they liked it... And the second thing that was not on display was this cute Easter Basket..(due to the fact it had chocolate carrots and all the hot light would melt it... RATS!! Hope you enjoy this projest... If you don't get to it intime for Easter not worries you can alter it to fit any season.. Keep your eyes open for great after Easter sales I got these Lindt Carrots for 75% off at Walgreens... HELLO...

Here is a picture of the carrots in it's original state... Yellow and borring.. Below I will show you a jazzed up version.

Step 1 : disacemble the origional package and trace it to get the proper dimensions.

Step 2 : deside how tall you want the new box to be and adjust the patter you have drawn add 1/8 in. all the way around the the fold marks/base of box so the old box can fit inside the new one you are creating. Use a different color marker so you know which color box you will use for your final template. As seen above. The pink uses the new dimensions..

Step 3: Fit the original package with carrots in the new outer box to see the fit.

Check hight of carrots in the box to make sure you are happy with the amount to carrots showing.

Here is the new outer box assembled.. You will notice below that I changed my to Close to Coco to look more like dirt.

Step 4 : Re-create the box in close to coco to look more like dirt.

Step 5: Assemble using sticky strip
Step 6 : Check fit of new box.

Step 7 : I used the same base with original dimensions for the dirt template in Close to Coco so the carrots can rest in a patch of dirt. By using the original dimensions this will allow the dirt to set inside your new box.

Step 8 : I wanted to carrots to be able to stand up straight and also line up with the original box. I made the top layer(dirt) hole smaller than the original. Sense my circle punch wouldn't reach this far in I made a template with the original hole seen to the right and traced them on the finished dirt and made the circle just smaller than the original hole.

Step 9 : To create a hole that had a little grab I used an craft knife to cut lines as if you were cutting a pizza then pushed all the wedges from the top finished side to the inside of the box. Now when you insert the carrot it will help balance it with the original box holes.

Step 10 : Assemble box using stick strip.

Step 11: Check the fit in for both boxes.

Step 12: Make the slats.. I found a patten paper that was perfect for a this project to alternate the patter of the wood slats but you can use any paper you wish.. I cut where the pattern intersected but you can adjust the slats to work with the paper you use.
Step 13 : Round the top corners of each wood slat.
Step 14 : Ink the sides of each slat with color of your choice.
Step 15: Cut a 1/4 in strip of paper, ink it up like the wood slats and attach all the way around the box as seen below.. I cut a piece of grass out ahead of time to make sure I like the placement of the wood slats. The grass was not permanently attached.. You can see I even change my mined on the color later. When you are happy with the hight of the slats you can trim off the edge of one then measure and cut all the slate in advance.
Step 16 : Make a pencil mark where the top of the original box is on the outer box and measure the hight. This is how far you will cut the blades of grass. Seen in step 18.

Step 17 : Use the original measurements of the box to get the hight of the grass needed. use the measurements from step 16 to mark how far dow to cut each blade of grass I used my paper trimmer and cut each blade 1/8 in. Then cut the glass blades a different angle by hand. Finish off with ink to help all the blades stand out.

Step 18 : Adhere grass to inside of new outside box with sticky strip.

Step 19: Using the Crop-a-dile hand tool to punch a whole in the side and set the Jumbo Eyelet using this tool as well.

Step 20 : Put stick strip around the outside of the paper dirt piece and put inside the box push side into the paper dirt so the stick strip will attach.
Step 21: Bend and arrange the grass to have a life like quality.
Step 23: Form a handle for your basket. With a strip of paper about 1.5 in" start to wrap around a large marker to help give a cylinder shape that will overlap. I used my Versa-Marker. You can trim of the excess when you have the shaper you like. The extra length gives you something to pull on for shaping.

Step 24 : Attack Stick Strip to the inside of one edge. Remove tape and use a 1/2 in " circle to use as a temple for desired size.
Step 25 : cut to small holes using your 1/8th in" hand held circle punch. Then center the two holes and punch a 1/2 in"circle punch. These will be the sides of the handle.

Step 26 : Lightly dot glue on the edges of the cylinder and add the circle and let dry.
Step 27: When dry add a little Close to Coco ink to give life to the handle.
Step 28 : String the handle on desired length of wire like a bead. I used a mini glue dot on both ends applied to the wire by sliding it into the 1/8 in" with a paper piercing tool and slid the handle to the desired spot to help hold in place.

Step 29: String wire in both ends centering the handle and finishing the edges with pliers.

Step 30: Place all the Yummy carrots in the newly made basket.Step 31 : Create a fitting tag for the basket.

This is one of our sneak peek photos.. We took this picture when we were visiting our friends in Devon, England.. Lucky us they new a few about a few of the sights that the movie was filmed at. This is the church they filmed the wedding scene at in the end of the movie..

Card inspired by the movie ~ Sense and Sensibility

Ok those of you who know me know I {HEART} period movies....

I love the costume of this time period... The colors and wall papers are simple but elegant as well. When I saw this pattern paper I new I would be a perfect match for color and design for my card.. I then though I needed a simple but elegant ribbon to represent some of the activities like hat haberdashery(hat making) and needle work ladies would do all day if they were privileged. Finished by a simple but elegant button that might be found on there clothing or shoes.

So I was over the moon to make a card inspired by the movie

"Sense and Sensibility". I really relate to a mix of two characters from this movie, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood.. Just like Elinor Dashwood I was the oldest of 4 girls, always did the right thing and was reliable and dependable. I even have a few little trinkets that I have held onto that belonged or were given by somebody special.. But as I get older I find the same qualities with the addition of new qualities like the spunk of Ms Marianne.. I usually speak my mine. I was really reserved and shy when I was younger. But with Life experience I think I have learn how to stand up for my self and just try to not let others opinions bother us.. Not saying that always works. But it's defiantly easier when you are older and more comfortable in your own skin. I admire Ms Marianne for her determination to love deeply and follow her heart. But my heart aches to see her in such despair from lost love.

I love the formality of this time period. The respect that men and woman had for each other. The proper courting and engagements. Men standing up when a woman walks in and out of a room. Men that wear something other than t-shirts and jeans (my men). I am sure that is really was not as romantic as it all appears in the period movie.. And the hygiene has was nothing like modern times. But a girl can dream and live in here own Jane Austen world can't see.

Happy Birthday to my sweet little daughter that turned 12 today... Daddy took us out for our birthday dinner last night at the Cheesecake Factory. My birthday is on Monday and I am not even close to 12.... Try just one year short of 40!!! Yikes!!!

What a project Julie Powell took on with her cooking blog... After a weekly Cob Salad lunch date with friends, Julie Powell was tired of feeling like a second class citizen. Julie wanted to find something she was really good and share her story.. She created a blog to document her journey cooking ALL the recipes in Julia Child's cook book. I think she bit off a little more that she could chew to say the least.. This adventure even jeopardized her marriage. She said that Julia gave her life purpose. Amy Adams did a sweet job portraying Julie Powell. It was so delightful to get a glimpse of Julia Child's live. She was so adorable.. I was disappointed in the end of the movie though I felt like the story didn't have a lot of closure. Defiantly worth the watch though.. I watched the movie on Netflicks instant download.

I love to COOK so when I hear about this movie I was excited. We are FOOD NETWORK junkies at our house.. Julia Child is a LEGAND and will be looked up to forever in the culinary world... Meryl Streep did an AMAZING job portraying her.. She nailed the voice for sure.. Just charming... It was fun to see such a warm and loving side of Julia, and what an ADORABLE husband she had...

The movie 13 going on 30 focuses on a young teenage girl by the name of Jenna Rink who suffers a humiliating thirteenth birthday and makes a wish to skip ahead to when she is thirty years old. Through the magic of some wishing dust her wish comes true. The movie then transports us to a thirty-year-old Jenna with the exception that she is only still thirteen on the inside but doesn't remember anything since her thirteenth birthday. She soon realizes that her thirty-year-old self has everything that she wanted when she was younger, such as a cool apartment, a fabulous wardrobe, and a dream job. Jenna soon realizes that even though she has everything she could ever want when she was younger, there is still something missing. Without her best friend from 1987, she gets her assistant to track down Matt. To her dismay she learns that her and Matt have been estranged since high school and that Matt is now engaged. When Jenna shows up at Matt's wedding, he gives Jenna back the dream house that she once through at him during her thirteenth birthday. Jenna leaves to find out that the wishing dust still works because we are then pulled back to the past to see a different story. 13 Going on 30 movie Trailer

If you were a child of the 80's as was I. I even graduated from High school in the 80's. Just thinking of all the music, colors, shapes, cloths and movies of course makes me giggle.. I remember dying to have Guess pants with a million pockets in pink of course. Jelly shoes, Big scarfs and bows, leg warners, moon boots(the real one that are HUGE not the Napoleon dynamite kind), sweater that we wore backwards so the V-shape was in the back and all the Jelly bracelets thanks to MaDonna and by the way isn't she still wearing them.. Speaking of MaDonna I read that she and her daughter are launching a new clothing line inspired by the "Material Girl" style.. So get ready for even more ridiculous retro cloths. And who can forget the dance that was re-created in this movie "Thriller". When this music video came out our choice teacher got a copy and showed it to us... My oldest had a retro week at school so for the 80's day he borrowed my "Sony Walkman" to carry around for the day and choose a few cassette tapes from my collection. We could go on for ever... LOL

I know you are thinking what!! you still have those!!! But really who would want or buy them.. There Cassettes. For a good giggle click on the picture and read the titles.. Most of these titles I would NEVER listed to again like

Whitney Houston, Miami Sound Machine etc YUCK! But I do have a few classics that people still listed to like U-2...

Thirteen going on 30's Official Home page has great little "80's" activities you can do. From getting your horoscope, to printing off invitations for an "80's" party of your own... I even found a little inspiration for my card there with the magic 8-ball.. You can even ask the 8-ball questions and like get like an "80's" answer... You can find it here.

The glitter on the 30 was inspired my the magic wishing dust that Matt gave Jenna for her 13 birthday..

So this sketch would qualify for Julee's Mojo sketch I took a picture with and with out the triangle in the corner.. I did add the triangle to the final card so I could add even one more geometric shape for our Cinema Saturday challenge.. I also think it balances out the card. I really like it with and with out. What do you think? Let me know...

And extended day with Da and mom came along..

Card Inspired by the Movie ~ Dear Frankie

I love foreign films. I really don't have a problem with accents distracting me either.. When we came across this amazing love story a few years ago... We totally fell in love with it... Mind you Gerard Butler was not the big star he now is in the U.S.. Emily Mortimer is fantastic as well. But the star of this movie is Frankie played my Jack Mc Elhone This move touches you in so many ways. The Love that a mother has for a child, wether it's a grow child (mother and daughter)or a small child(mother and son). Learning to open your heart and make room for others can be so healing. Children can work miracles and Frankie is so trusting and loving...

My inspiration starters for this movie are 4 very important parts in the movie.. First the map and all the places Frankie marks showing where his da's ship is traveled to using little red flags. Second the Stamps collection Frankie and his da(mother) are sharing with each other.. Third the letters that Frankie and his da(mother) are writing to each other. Last the hearts are showing the love that is to be when you open your live to new love.

This movie is a MUST see. You will not be disappointed only lifted up by watching "Dear Frankie"

I have been following Donna for a few years now I first came across Donna's blog by playing on Kristina Werner's color challenge each week. I love checking in with Donna's blog she has such a clean and elegant style. I meet Donna at a Stampin' Up Convention a few years back at a Splitcoaststamper Dirty Dozen card exchange years ago (not sure if she remembers).

When I though about what I could make to create Donna's style 2 things came to mind.. Texture she is the Queen of Dry Embossing and the second a monochromatic color scheme. Donna keeps it simple. I think that is what draws me to her.. I have such a hard time keeping it simple and need a reminder once and a while to go clean and classy like Donna.. In the back of my mind I kept thinking. "you could add a little here and you could do this or that.) but I had to keep the simple elegance of Donna in mind..

THANKS Donna I REALLY enjoyed making this card for your challenge.. I LOVE the say it turned out.. Thanks for helping me go back to one of my favorite looks EVER..

Welcome to one of my favorite movies girlies... I actually wouldn't watch this movie for quite a long time... Because of Steve Carell.. I just going to say it.. I don't really care for the t.v. program "The Office" It's painful to watch... My Sweetheart ordered this movie on Netflicks and so I consented and YA!! I was in for a great surprise... This movie has a great case Juliette Binoche is so Beautiful. You will really enjoy this movie I promise.. It is so easy to relate to wether you are married or not, have kids/teens or even sibling.. This movie has great Family dynamic in this movie..

If you have ever really listened to the music on my blog... Where words out loads of my music is from the soundtrack from this movie.. Sondre Lerche music is so up-beat an fun to listen to..

I can't wait to see all the release stamps because I think they have a look of her in them...

We can all use a LOT of Sunny Sankari on our lives...

For my project I used 2 of my favorite stamp sets from Verve..

"Up, Up and Away"

"Dad's Day"

This Set was made for me... Well I like to think it was anyway... My Dad is a Hot Air Balloon Pilot and we grew up Ballooning... For his Birthday this year I am making him a few projects to reflect on the memories I had growing up Ballooning with him... The "Dad's Day" stamp set is a great companion to the "Up, Up and Away" set, both reflect him perfectly. The thing I have really enjoyed about Julee's "Verve stamps" is the emotion that they Invoke. The Sentiments and Images are so amazing. You can really share what is in your heart with the card or project you give to others.

Part of the challenge is to use 3-D objects you already have around the house, then bring new life to them..

Here are 2 things that I found and recycled them into something new.

"Time" for a little redo.. I have had this clock for years and not quite had the right place for it.. It didn't really match my decor.. I think it was waiting for a re-do from the day I got it.. I think this little Balloon re-do is perfect...

For this project I used Liquid Etch.

I also re-did this glass soap dispenser I had.. It's first life was very feminine. With a little re-do, it is a masculine soap dispenser know.. If you know anything about Ballooning you know that we use TONS of rope.. You have tons in the Balloon so you can through it over for the chase crew to grab on and help pull you down. And we have even more in the trailer and garage at home.

What better way to trim this project than with rope.

This is just a little bit of the collection I am making for my DAD.. His birthday is this month and it's a big one... "70" That sounds so weird.. He couldn't possibly be that old... Where did the time go? He has been 50 for years in my mind... Guess I am the one closer to 50 than he is.. LOL.

Did we all grow up with this movie and or guy or what.. I even remember watching Spiderman back in the day when he only spoke in though bubbles on the original "Electric Company" back in the "70's" yikes... I really loved this challenge I new weeks ago that I was going to make a floating spider.. I do have another card in mind as well. Hope I get it done so I can share.. I am so glad to have the chance to make a card or 2 for boys to have on hand...

The of the aspect of the Spiderman movies I like is watching Peter Parker struggle between having confidence and finding the strength to be a Hero... It reminds us all about our struggle between good and bad choices..

This cute little poem was actually a line that a punk rocker chick said

to Spiderman in the movie..

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge #67 - Tristan & Isolde

If you have just come from our challenge blog... The San-dollar is the unique element I added that might not make sense if you have not seen the movie.. The answer for the sand dollar is the sea... The Sea is what brought them together so I though a little tribute was a great idea.

Ok. I have to say I got totally sucked into this movie.. I was looking for a quote that would summarize this movie in one statement, so I did a little YouTube of this move and I was instantly hooked. I left the main computer and grabbed the laptop and headed down to my crafty place. I watched EVERY scene of this movie and it all felt so familiar but new at the same time. The last time I watched this movie I was on my way to England (ironically) and was trying to rest. The lady who was sitting next to me yacked the whole time. Now don't get me wrong; I can talk as well as anyone or better but it was LATE and I had taken half a sleeping pill to be able to rest. So watching it again made me feel like I had found an old friend with this movie.

I found this quote from the scene when Isolde is reading poetry to Tristan when he was recovered from the sea. Then she repeats the poem to Tristan as they depart one another in the end of the movie.

What a great movie and a great challenge... You won't want to miss this one.. Come play along.. Don't forget we have inspiration starters and loads of samples to inspire...
