Card club...

I have totally been out of my neighboor hood card group loop... I have been way to busy to say yes to 1 more thing... This time I did... I love all the girls in my card group... We have been making cards for one another for like 4 year now I think.. I have tons of card on top of what I make for my self.. What is a girl to do with so many cards... Give them away of course.. I share my cards with my neighbor who uses them for her church calling...(Job) Then they are not just sitting in a shoes box because I hord my crafty things.. But making others happy.. If you live my me and wonder... Weird.. I got a card that I made from someone not in the card group....Now you know... The only other girl in our group that has a card/craft blog is Shari.. In our neighborhood  we have a card club once a month and we exchange cards. I made this for the exchange. I al so loving the versatility of the stamp set "Winter Post" I have had a ton of fun the season with this set.  Riding Hood Red is such a great color it's softness really blends with other colors well, but is strong enough to stand on it's own. If you haven't ordered any of the Taffeta ribbon from Stampin'Up yet you need to. I can't believe what gorgeous ribbon you can tie with this ribbon. Taffeta holds it's shape so well and still has a softness about it. Speaking about ribbon.... I was at the craft store on Saturday and was looking at the ribbon. I thought I would look for a ribbon that would make a good alternate for my Christmas card. I wanted to use the Alpine ribbon originals from SU but sense it comes in a set of 3 and I would not be able to mass produce using the striped without hurting the pocket book. Well I looked at 3 store with our success.. You can't hold a candle to S.U. ribbon.. The colors and quality are not to be compared. And I was not finding any ribbon that was any cheaper either. Most Ribbon was average of $3.49 for 9-feet(3 yards) S.U. Ribbon is $4.95 for 15 yards... Wow that is the best deal you can find. Sorry girls Wal-mart, Michael's, Robert's, Joann are not always the best deal... especially when quality, price and selection is in hand. Long and short... I 'm changing the ribbon and I am using Stampin' Up Taffeta Ribbon for the above reasons... (this isn't the card I was having ribbon trauma with I haven't even started the cards yet.)

Stamp recipe:

Stamps-  Winter post, 

Paper-  Kraft, Real Red, Olive Green, Whisper White, Real Red D.S.P

Ribbon- Riding Hood Red Taffeta.

Ink- Real Red, Olive Green, 

Movie watched:

Pixie Stick Holder Tutorial

Supplies needed:

4 1/4" x 11" piece of Kiwi Kiss Card Stock for card base.

5 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of Kraft Card Stock layer 1

5 1/2" x 3" piece & 1" x 4 1/4" piece of S.U. Designer Series paper "Ghostly Greeting" 

Scrap pieces of Whisper White and basic black paper for tag.

White Ribbon for Bow on card base. Gingham ribbon for tag. 

Punches needes:

Tag punch, small tag punch, Word Window Punch, 

rectangle hand held punch (not pictured)

Misc:

Stapler, Snail Adhesive, Stazon ink for tag .

& 

Pixie Sticks of course (6 will fit perfectly)

Stamp set:

"Eat Drink and Be Scary"

Step #1

  Score card and fold. Fold should be closest to you and card opening away from you.

Step #2

 Add adhesive to backside of Pattern Paper and Kraft paper. 

Step #3

 Layer Kraft and patter paper to card Base. 

Make sure that your card base and pattern paper are still facing the right direction.

Step #4

 - Adhere the 1" x 4 1/2" piece of Pattern paper in the center of card.

Step #5

Turn the card around to the open is facing you. Center the "Word Window" punch about 3/4" to 1" down on the card and make a single punch.

Move the punch just a slight bit to the right and make a small punch to extend the opening.

Do the same thing on the other side of the punched slot and take a small punch on the left.

View after punches are complete.

Step #6

Tie ribbon on around the orange band of pattern paper. Ribbon will not show on the back of the card. Add a little bit of adhesive to the length of ribbon and it will lay flat and not move around.

Step #7

Staple on both sides of card. Leave open at top.

Step #8

Stamp image on scrap paper and punch out with smaller tag punch. Punch out a larger tag with Large tag punch and sandwich together with adhesive. Punch a hole for ribbon.

Step #9

Tie tag to white ribbon.

Step #10

Add the "Sugar" the Pixie Sticks. 6 will fit perfectly.

Complete Pixie Stick holder.

Garden butterfly

This is a fast little card I made for a card club exchange.. I pretty much love brown with everything if you haven't guessed by know. I especially love to match it with only one other color family. It has a simple elegance about it wether its brown and blue or brown and green or in this case brown and pink. When I was at "Roberts Crafts" in UT. I found a bag on clear pebbles that look a lot like dew drops. If you need TONS you can get the clear at "Roberts" for abound $12.00 if you would like to have a nice stash then I found a much smaller bag (about 12 0z??) About $3.00 at "Michael's" in the Floral department. If you have permanent markers you can color the flat side and you have all the colors in the rainbow. I purchased from "Costco"(best store ever) a while back a huge multi color pack of sharpies for less that $20.00. To adhere the dew drops I used mini glue dots I have also had luck with "Gloo" form "Ki memories" it's the only liquid I have found that works.  I used "Crystal Effects" in the flower images to give them a little pop. I you don't own "Crystal Effects" you need to. It is one of my must haves. I stamped the image twice to give the dark and lighter effect. Usually referred to as second generation. Have a HOT weekend it's a scorcher today high 90s and 97 forcasted tomorrow. Out to the Kiddy pool for me..
