Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #21 "Bride and Prejudice"

"No LIFE with out wife"
or
"Life it's all around you.. Live like you mean it"

This is one of my all time Favorite movies.... I think I have watched it 1,000 times including the out-takes and the making of the movie... This movie is totally a take on "Pride and Prejudice" and what a clever way to make this classic story relate to modern day. I also love that a different culture was the focus of this film. It just goes to show that we are not all that different from each other.

My favorite things about India are SANKARI of course. (I love my Sunny Sankari she is the brightest part of my day :) or the brightest part of the middle of the night of which we share a lot of), The colors, Spice, dance and music.. I LOVE Indian food.. I only wish that I could have a good curry with my best Indian Friend... mmmmmmm! The dance moves are totally amazing. You have to be in great physical shape to be able to survive an entire Indian dance.. There are so many dance move in one song alone all telling such an amazing story..

My card is inspired by a few of my very favorite colors from India.. The pinks and oranges are so brilliant.. I chose a white card base because when I was watching this film I noticed all the amazing people and colors were popping of the screen because the background was white.
Here are a few of my favorite scenes from the movie:

Bale Bale Dance~

Dances from the Garba~

No Life Without Wife

Marrage into Town

Take me to Love~

There is a crazy dance that one of the sisters do for a dinner party.. Your job is to watch the movie and then tell us what you think... We also want to here what your favorite dance is from the movie...

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #20- The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons

Nominated for 13 academy awards here is a full list of all nomination for this movie USA and internationally.

When Sankari and I talked about making cards for this movie Vintage was the first thing that came to mind. The movie has amazing depth and color. It also covers such a long time period. At the beginning of this movie the story of a clock and a clock maker is a huge part of how Benjamin Button came about. Sankari and I thought about all the different elements of the movie and we both settled on Clock ironically. You can view her amazing clock inspired card here. You can also come on over to Cinema Saturday and read a little more about the movie.

I am really loving clock stamps right know and can't wait to order a new time piece that is coming up in March from Stampin' Up.  Clock make great classic stamp set because we all have "TIME" weather is not enough or to much time..

Mojo Monday #74, Friend

I have been dying to do another Mojo Monday for weeks. I just can't think of were the time has gone. I am so happy so share with you a mojo card today.. I just got this stamp new set
"Fifth Ave Floral" and had to play. When I was browsing through the newest catty I noticed that they had used the BLEACHING TECHNIQUE on this set.. You can find color photo examples of this technique on page 104 of the "Idea book & Catalog" from Stampin' Up. If you would like to receive one for FREE come over here. When you place an order on-line Stampin' Up will send you 1 FREE catalog until the end of April. That a $12.00 value. Just think of all the inspiration you could get from this catty.

To start I really wanted to use Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Close to Coco. I decided to stamp my own floral back ground paper so I could just play around with the color with this new set. I did us some of the coordinating paper as an accent (the Kiwi Kiss houndstooth pattern)The Designer Series Paper or "DSP"coordinates perfectly with this set as well. It's GORGEOUS! It's called  "Urban Oasis" You can find it on page 161 on the catty or here on -line. I will be playing with my new paper again really soon.

Off to finish my SU taxes...... Lets just say I spend more that I make.
I AM A HAPPY STAMPER!

Hugs
Brooke

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #19 -Emma

When we were in England we went in to this great antique shop along the river Dart.. There these babies were just sitting on a glass shelf... I wanted to jump up and down.. I tried not to shout to my DH to get over here fast... He new when he got over to me what I was so excited about... He even said ... "It's the dark blue" He new I was going to have these little treasured...xoxo. I even thought about buying one of them for my mom but I just could not bare to part with them... They were a steal by the way. Way cheaper than even brand new.

My inspiration was the cameo work in the white and contrasted by the blue... there is a card so similar to this in one of the late Stampin' Up catalog.. This card is the reason I own this sentiment set.. I just could not get it out of my mind until it was mine. Ironicly It took me months before I ever made this card.. I actually made this card a while back and have saved it for this movie.

One of my favorite parts in Emma is when Emma and Frank Churchill are singing around the piano.. I love the song and voices in the movie... Even if Frank totally take over and commands center stage.. One of those Ohhhhh! heart stop beating moments is when Emma and Mr. Knightly are out on the balcony talking about Mr and Mrs Elton and what rat finks they are for snubbing Harriot Smith. They both have that ah ha moment and then share a long over due dance together... I LOVE this movie I watch it over and over again... Gwyneth Paltrow is adorable in this movie.

Ink ~ Bordering Blue, Stazon, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip.
 Clear Embossing Powder

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge - #18 -Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

A little movie review:
In the early 19th century, martial arts master Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-Fat) is about to retire and enter a life of meditation, though he quietly longs to avenge the death of his master, who was killed by Jade Fox (Cheng Pei-pei). He gives his sword, a fabled 400-year-old weapon known as Green Destiny, to his friend, fellow martial arts wizard and secret love Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh), so that she may deliver it to Sir Te (Sihung Lung). Upon arrival in Peking, Yu Shu Lien happens upon Jen (Zhang Ziyi), a vivacious, willful politician's daughter. That night, a mysterious masked thief swipes Green Destiny, with Yu Shu Lien in hot pursuit -- resulting in the first of several martial arts action set pieces during the film. Without giving away the rest of the movie - this film is about friendship, love, loyalty, trust, romance, passion, determination, silence and action and is just breathtaking.

This film was first screened to much acclaim at the 2000 Cannes, Toronto, and New York film festivals and became a favorite when Academy Awards nominations were announced in 2001. It is truly a beautiful movie and has since then paved the way for more visual delights such as "Hero", "House of Flying Daggers" and the Curse of the Golden Flower.

THE ONLY REQUIREMENT THIS WEEK IS TO ADD A LITTLE SPLASH OF RED
(it can be a big splash or little splash, however you would like :)
According to About.com "Red is the color of happiness and prosperity in China and may be used to attract good luck."

Brooke's Card:

When I was reflecting on this movie I was thinking of the beautiful clothing from the "Orient" I though that the "Faux Silk" Technique would be appropriate. The first color that came to mind was "Riding Hood Red" A very Passionate color. I then choose the Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango to add a softness or warmth to the red. Kiwi Kiss was a choice that brought a touch of nature to the card. The green represents the Bamboo that sways in the breeze and is beautifully danced in between characters during scenes of cat and mouse. I used the sentiment "LOVED" to represent the simple and everlasting love between "Li mu bai(Chow Yun-Fat), and Yu Shu Lien(Michelle Yeoh).

This move was the first movie that we ever owned on DVD. My sister gave this to my DH for his birthday to help force us in to the 21st century about 8 years ago. We hadn't made the just from VHS yet. How funny to look back on that to think that technology has change so much even sense then. This is truly one of our favorite movies. The story is so beautiful, the cinema-photography, the costumes and set design are so perfectly designed.
