Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge # 8-Miracle on 34th Street

Come create with us.. @
We have blog candy give-away this week... come make a project of any kind and enter to win.....

Since the movie is all about deciding if you really believe in Santa Clause or not I decided to scrapbook a few pictures we took this week.. This is so huge for my little DS because this is the first time we have and memory of Zach even entertaining the thought of wanting to visit with Santa. He is usually the child that is the furthest away sitting on mom, dad or a big brother's lap - NOT on Santa's... Zach was a little nervous and luckily he got to take his sweet time because he was the only kid even visiting with him at all.. We have two son's with birthdays front and back of Halloween and we just didn't get around to having a birthday party for Zach. Dad had taken this week off of work so Mom and Dad took Zach for a special date to make a "Build -a- Bear" all of his own. His big sister had just attended a b-day party at "Build -a- Bear" and she had looked on the computer to see what she might choose at the party and Zach saw the Zebra and that is all that was on his brain for weeks.. We had a great time watching him create his Zebra. Zach named his after a favorite cousin.. So sweet. The girl helping Zach asked if the Zebra was stuffed just right and he said " he is just perfect for snuggling" he didn't want to change a thing. Zach was so excited to show his new Zebra to Santa he even let him hold it while he talked to him. What a magical day.. We created a new friend. Visited with an new/old friend. Went to lunch just the three of us and cute little Zach is still dragging his Zebra with him every were he goes. Oh to be a child again.

Kristina's color challenge #32

This week I have to say I was a little excited and then a little worried because on the limited colors. I do {LOVE}  Riding Hood Red... When I sat down to play I already had in my mind that I would accent with silver... I actually used metallic and Sahara Sand.. I you don't have this color you should order it.. It was on the the first neutrals I ever bought from Stampin' Up I will totally surprise you.. The snow flakes are from a Christmas Tree decoration I took apart.. I used the retired silver cording from S.U. with 3-D glue Dots to adhere, give dimension and glue the cording to the project. I ordered this fantastic Christmas wheel a while back and finally had the perfect project to use it with. And of Course I got to use my favorite Riding Hood Ribbon!!

Stamp Recipe:
Stamps: "Scandinavian"wheel, "Holidays & Wishes"
Paper: Whisper White, Sahara Sand, Riding Hood Red
Ink: Riding Hood Red

Movie Watched: "Eragon"

Tagged Again

How cool to be nominated by your Blogging BFF... She is really the inspiration to me.. Sankari is the most amazing person I have meet.. We both grew up in very different worlds but we  have found through our journey together that we really have so much in common. Our souls are just connected.. From our very first conversation it was like we just pick up from where we had left of.. And we rarely talk for less that 1.5 each time. We have very patient Husbands who are so sweet and even answer the phone with a warm greeting when we call each other. My kids get so  excited when they seen Sankari's name come up on the caller I.D... We all just LOVE you.... Thanks for bringing a LOT of "SunnySankari" Sunshine into our lives....

Tagged

Our crazy little Family

I was tagged by Kathy today... It was a quick and different tag so I decided to play along.

This is actually a pretty fun tag. You don't have to answer any questions.  In this tag, you post the 4th picture in the 4th folder of your picture files and then tag 4 others. If you don't have folders like me... a MAC just figure out your own system.. Don't forget to tell us who tagged you...

This is a funny picture we were messing around giggling and pulling faces and our 15 year old caught us on film...

I tag...

Hope you all have a great day... Don't forget to come play with us a "Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge"... Blog Candy is on it's way..........

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge # 7 - Charlie Brown Thanksgiving

Is this a Kids dream Thanksgiving feast of what!

I really wanted to re-created the clever little Thanksgiving dinner that the peanuts gang made.. The preparing of the Thanksgiving feast is my favorite part of the whole show. Toast a flying everywhere and butter spread just as fast... So dang clever... Woodstock has always been a favorite of mine with his looks like you people are nut... and what the heck are you thinking... And he just quietly goes about his business.. What a genius....

I used a scallop circle and a sponge dauber to make the clouds in the sky.. I really love the contrast it give to the yellow Woodstock image.

Zach and Abbie had such a great time together at "Camp Snoopy" They never stopped giggling... and Smiling.. I think they would even choose it over Disneyland they had that much fun.. I highly suggest a trip to "Knotts Berry Farm" for the family there is so much more shade and lots of benches for adults to sit on... And like Disneyland parents can join in on most, but not all of the rides...  Knotts was a great place to go because all week we had experienced way to many crowds and line and Disney. So to get to Knotts and have to place to our selves was a dream... I would go back in a heart beat.... Don't get me wrong.. I would never go to SO-CAL with out going to Disneyland I would probably choose it over anywhere else...
Zachy is always to proud of his projects.. He actually sleeps with some of the little letter books he makes at school... He also says: "Hey did you see the book I made" or "Hey did I show you my book" he show us all multiple time and tells us all the little details... How SWEET!!

Favorite color combo

OK so I know you are all so sick of seeing or hearing about this color combo from me but.... I just makes me happy... I really wasn't a big fan of the color orange until I found "Pumpkin Pie" from Stampin' Up. Not I find myself trying to use it on everything... Hey I even used it on one of my last Christmas cards.... HERE.

I was searching around on Splitcoast a while back and I just had to make this card... If you want to make on you can link to it HERE for the tutorial..

Don't forget to check out all the great project for the holiday season of Splitcoast and Papercraftplanet... Kristina's color challenge #31

The colors that Kristina presented this week were so deep and rich.. I had a couple of things flying through my head and one was nixed because I didn't have all the colors I needed in ink re-fill bottles for the stamp effect I wanted to do. So what do you do improvise... With these amazing colors strange enough I had Christmas come to mind. I really wanted to use a stamp set I ordered a few month back and haven't found the perfect way to use yet... Until now.. How perfect are these rich deep royal color for the Wise-men. I used my "Stampin' Write markers to color in the details and Crystal effects to add even more depth...

Jump over to Kristina's and try these colors for your self.. Maybe you might even find a little Christmas too.......

Card club

(Front of card pinched shut for a better view of card.)

In our neighborhood  we have a card club once a month and we exchange cards. I made this for the exchange. I al so loving the versatility of the stamp set "Winter Post" I have had a ton of fun the season with this set.  Riding Hood Red is such a great color it's softness really blends with other colors well, but is strong enough to stand on it's own. If you haven't ordered any of the Taffeta ribbon from Stampin'Up yet you need to. I can't believe what gorgeous ribbon you can tie with this ribbon. Taffeta holds it's shape so well and still has a softness about it. Speaking about ribbon.... I was at the craft store on Saturday and was looking at the ribbon. I thought I would look for a ribbon that would make a good alternate for my Christmas card. I wanted to use the Alpine ribbon originals from SU but sense it comes in a set of 3 and I would not be able to mass produce using the striped without hurting the pocket book. Well I looked at 3 store with our success.. You can't hold a candle to S.U. ribbon.. The colors and quality are not to be compared. And I was not finding any ribbon that was any cheaper either. Most Ribbon was average of $3.49 for 9-feet(3 yards) S.U. Ribbon is $4.95 for 15 yards... Wow that is the best deal you can find. Sorry girls Wal-mart, Michael's, Robert's, Joann are not always the best deal... especially when quality, price and selection is in hand. Long and short... I 'm changing the ribbon and I am using Stampin' Up Taffeta Ribbon for the above reasons... (this isn't the card I was having ribbon trauma with I haven't even started the cards yet.)
Inside of card with thumb again sorry.
A little forrest of cards. Look at the yummy ribbon....oxoxoxo...

Stamp recipe:
Stamps-  Winter post,
Paper-  Kraft, Real Red, Olive Green, Whisper White, Real Red D.S.P

Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge # 6 - Gone With the Wind

Sneak Peek photo.

Scarlet at TARA in one of here many amazing dresses.

When every I think of Gone With The Wind  this dress comes to mind. Granted my memories of this movie are from high school. But this dress is also so vivid in my mind thanks to Carol Burnett and her Comedy show. If you have never seen this skit you must Carol is a genius!

My inspiration card is from the picture above but was inspired by the dress she mad out of her curtains. I added the tassels for a little reminder of the curtains.

I hope you all enjoy re-visiting an old classic. I had a great time and I must say I can appreciate this show even more now that I am older. I think my kids will enjoy watching this classic as well. They love old movies.
Have a great Saturday and enjoy the show!

Kristina's color challenge #30

Another Great Color Challenge form Kristina!

My heart get a little warm and fuzzy when I get to use "Old Olive" in color challenges. I think this is one of my favorite colors of green ever. "Old Olive" compliments so many colors... "Purely Pomegranate", "Rose Red" and "Pumpkin Pie" are some of my favorites to use with it.  I love doing Kristina's challenges for the very reason I would never think to use some of the color combo's she presents to us. I probably would have omitted the "Certainly" and just lightened up the "Old Olive"for a second green. Thanks Kristina for always push me.. I {HEART} it when I achieve the goal. I think the very first pack of solid paper I purchased when I became a demo was "Sahara Sand" how fun to dig back into this color for the challenge.

Stamp Recipe:
Stamps:
Paper: Sahara Sand Whisper White, Certainly Celery, Old Olive.
Ink/Marker: Sahara Sand, Certainly Celery, Old Olive.
Ribbon: Old Olive
HodgePodge Hardward: Stampin Up'
Adhesive: Snail, Red line tape.

Movie Watched: (Pick out for me by my 5 year old DS) "Princess Bride" A classic!

My First Mojo Monday (#60)

OK So I decided to take of a few more challenges. I had seen Julee's "Mojo Monday" challenge before but just didn't know if I had the time to take on anymore. My sweetie Sankari always makes the cutest card from Julee's M.M. Challenges so this week I decided to hunt for a few new things to inspire my creativity and Mojo came to mind. So this one's for you Sankari. I am not usually one who likes to do a challenge with someone else's template, so this challenge lived up to it's name for me. I like not having to be confined to a specific idea but have the freedom to work on a project until  it becomes a work of art. I think I will take on a few of these challenges to really help me grow as a paper artist.

I think the poinsettia is the first thing that came to my mind on this card. I really wanted to use "Real Red" so that it was a deep red color. I love to add dimension to my cards so I was visualizing the flowers 3-D of course. I then got out my S.U. Christmas paper(Dashing) from last year so the reds would match. I layer out all the patterns and found one that was not to distracting from the flower image and had a couple of greens to play with.

I used a few dots of glitter glue in the center of the Embossed flowers. Thanks to my little 5 year old I have re-discovered my paper crimper. (he loves to use up all my scraps and has me make him strips of paper to crimp) I cut out folded leave shapers and ran the leaf through the crimper on an angle for the leaves. And what card is complete with our juice yummy ribbon.

Who doesn't love a little jewelry on a card or on their person.. I DO, I DO.....(hand raised high in the air) Green was the perfect fit. It added such a great little punch to the card. Red would have distracted from the flowers...

If you are up to a few challenges check out Julee's "Mojo Monday" for great card templates.
OR
Check out our "Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge" if you really want to think outside the box and have a free rain of creativity. ALL PROJECTS WELCOME. Anything from card to sewing.. What ever inspires you....
