Kristina's Color Challenge #56- Butterflies

What a fun card this was to make... I have had a LONG week... This morning I had a great stamp club with a couple a my favorite gals... We had a very unconventional stamp club.. I knew I was having only a few girls over because of all the summer activities everyone had. I decided to ask one of the girls what she really wanted to make or what she wanted to learn. She said I NEED new techniques.. I am getting in a slump. So as I watched Zach splash around this week. The though of Sewing on paper came to mind... When I told her she was so excited... I new she enjoyed sewing and has even brought one of her quilts to show us all.. So voila~ We made a patchwork card using the Bigz Top Note Die by Sizzix.. So fun to just create as we went... Then we concentrated on how to use our scraps and leftover elements... last but not least we learned how to use a layout template... We even found cards in the Stampin' Up catalog and sketched the layout on paper so we could see the layout and concentrate on stamps, paper and elements we already have... Now we can make a Christmas card from what was a Birthday card in the Catalog... I LOVE THE STAMPIN' UP CATALOG it is such a great resource for ideas and inspiration...

Long story short I still haven't picked up all the mess so I used my scraps and used one of the techniques we did in our class this morning... I love how simple this card is and how cool it looks..

Enjoy!

Kristina's Color Challenge #54 You are my Sunshine

"You are my Sunshine" this card is in honor of two cutie pies... My dearest daughter Abbie and my Sunshine in the middle of the night Sankari. Sense Abbie was a baby I have always sang the song "You are my Sunshine" to her.. She still crinkles up her little body and has a HUGE smile on her face and soul when I sing this song to her... I always felt so guilty singing this song to my next baby because this was our song... Maybe because she was in the next room and I was singing it to some one else... Abbie is 11 now, but she is still my little Abbie.. She is a little girls lost in the sea of "BIG" Little and big brothers... I love that she is a short little gal...

Sankari is the Sunshine in the middle of the night when all the world is a sleep but us! Literally!  We are totally crazy and keep late hours... Last night we chatted for almost 2 hours.. We both had to get up REALLY early but it's always worth it to me... Sankari has the sunniest personalist and always has a very cheerful hello and good by.. I always have my soul warmed when I am around Sankari... Even thought we are MILES away!  I love you girlie!

Hugs to you both..

Kristina's Color Challenge #47

OK so I totally know it's 1:16 in the A.M. But I haven't done Kristina's challenge in a LONG time. I was up late working on the Sneak Peeks for the Cinema Saturday challenge tomorrow and Sankari told me her challenge was posted. So While I was in my studio working on my Cinema Saturday card I just had to play along with Kristina. I had a vision of a card I did for a convention swap come to mind.. Could I find a version of this card on my room anywhere? NO. So I had to do by memory. This time I added Ribbon so I could use a 4th color. Get use to seeing this So Saffron Ribbon I have a LOAD of it from Sale-A-Bration. If you want to get a LOAD of it for your self you only have a few day left to order during the Sale-A-Bration Celebration.  I am so glad Kristina used the Tangerine Color I haven't used it in ages.. I am a total "Pumpkin Pie" loving fool.

Come join us tomorrow on the Cinema Saturday blog and take a guess at the sneak peek. This Week we are giving away Blog candy to celebrate our
25th Challenge.
Come play along with us.

Night Night!

Kristina's color challenge #43 "Friend"

"FRIEND"
I haven't had a chance to make a card for Kristina's color challenge in  a while.. I really miss here challenges...  This card is a little dedication to all the amazing friends I have meet through Kristina's challenge blog.. I love that making cards has connected me with amazing women throughout the world.. I love you all dearly..

I got my inspiration from the middle piece of fabric on the inspiration photo.. I only had a limited time to play and a card I made a number of years ago came to mind.. I altered it just a little and... Wha..Laaa.. I think this is a great way to use up scraps, make a card for a boy or man in your life.. Or if you need a really fast card... I even used my SU buttons... This is a big deal for me I love to collect embellishments with the intention  of using them...... But some of my favorite this I really have a hard time using because when there gone... Then what?  Is anyone else like that or am I the only compulsive collector out there..

Card Recipe:
Stamps~
SU Card Stock/Ink ~ Pumpkin Pie, Whisper White, Brocade Blue, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive,     Ruby Red
Buttons~ Stampin' Up
Linnen Thread~ Stampin' Up
Adhesive ATG gun.

Movie ~ "Forgotten"
This was a little claustrophobic to me. The overwhelming  thought that your mind and life could be erased  or you and you family, friends, LIFE could be erased.. Yikes. And the fact that everyones is telling you that you are totally delusional....

Kristina's color challenge #38

I {heart} new stamps!!!! This set is in the new Stampin' Up catalog that will be available on the 19th of January... I wasn't going to pre-order this one but..... I did.. I actually ordered it on the 13th at like midnight and it came this afternoon the 15th... SWEET!!!! So cool when you are only 12 miles away :)  This card was created using a favorite technique of mine called Emerging color here is another example of this technique on a card I made a while back.. You can also find a great tutorial for this technique on Splitcoaststampers by Beate John...

I have already ranted and raved about how I like pinks and oranges together..(also I didn't use Craft colored card stock I reaching out) but I have never though to use Ruby Red... Sure genius on Kristina's part... I LOVE IT... I might even have to buy a package of Ruby Red know.. Just a little F.Y.I..... I have been using the Ruby Red marker when I need a Riding Hood Red Marker is works great for a little substitute... Sense they don't make in-color markers and I am to lazy to make my own from a blender pen of old dried out marker....

Here is a little tilted angle so you can see the Embossed Emerging effect  I also used glossy paper the ink spreads so evenly on this paper, the colors are more vivid and the embossing just turns out SOOOOO much better. When you wipe off the extra ink after brayering over the whole paper.. You have more control of the color you can get you cloth or paper towel moist or spray water directly on the project and take some color off...

I watch an old favorite go-to movie for this color scheme for inspiration...
"Bride and Preduice" of course!!! If you have never seen it check it out on these Youtube links:

Kristina's color challenge #32

This week I have to say I was a little excited and then a little worried because on the limited colors. I do {LOVE}  Riding Hood Red... When I sat down to play I already had in my mind that I would accent with silver... I actually used metallic and Sahara Sand.. I you don't have this color you should order it.. It was on the the first neutrals I ever bought from Stampin' Up I will totally surprise you.. The snow flakes are from a Christmas Tree decoration I took apart.. I used the retired silver cording from S.U. with 3-D glue Dots to adhere, give dimension and glue the cording to the project. I ordered this fantastic Christmas wheel a while back and finally had the perfect project to use it with. And of Course I got to use my favorite Riding Hood Ribbon!!

Kristina's color challenge #31

The colors that Kristina presented this week were so deep and rich.. I had a couple of things flying through my head and one was nixed because I didn't have all the colors I needed in ink re-fill bottles for the stamp effect I wanted to do. So what do you do improvise... With these amazing colors strange enough I had Christmas come to mind. I really wanted to use a stamp set I ordered a few month back and haven't found the perfect way to use yet... Until now.. How perfect are these rich deep royal color for the Wise-men. I used my "Stampin' Write markers to color in the details and Crystal effects to add even more depth...

Jump over to Kristina's and try these colors for your self.. Maybe you might even find a little Christmas too.......

My First Mojo Monday (#60)

OK So I decided to take of a few more challenges. I had seen Julee's "Mojo Monday" challenge before but just didn't know if I had the time to take on anymore. My sweetie Sankari always makes the cutest card from Julee's M.M. Challenges so this week I decided to hunt for a few new things to inspire my creativity and Mojo came to mind. So this one's for you Sankari. I am not usually one who likes to do a challenge with someone else's template, so this challenge lived up to it's name for me. I like not having to be confined to a specific idea but have the freedom to work on a project until  it becomes a work of art. I think I will take on a few of these challenges to really help me grow as a paper artist.

I think the poinsettia is the first thing that came to my mind on this card. I really wanted to use "Real Red" so that it was a deep red color. I love to add dimension to my cards so I was visualizing the flowers 3-D of course. I then got out my S.U. Christmas paper(Dashing) from last year so the reds would match. I layer out all the patterns and found one that was not to distracting from the flower image and had a couple of greens to play with.

I used a few dots of glitter glue in the center of the Embossed flowers. Thanks to my little 5 year old I have re-discovered my paper crimper. (he loves to use up all my scraps and has me make him strips of paper to crimp) I cut out folded leave shapers and ran the leaf through the crimper on an angle for the leaves. And what card is complete with our juice yummy ribbon.

Who doesn't love a little jewelry on a card or on their person.. I DO, I DO.....(hand raised high in the air) Green was the perfect fit. It added such a great little punch to the card. Red would have distracted from the flowers...

If you are up to a few challenges check out Julee's "Mojo Monday" for great card templates.
OR
Check out our "Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge" if you really want to think outside the box and have a free rain of creativity. ALL PROJECTS WELCOME. Anything from card to sewing.. What ever inspires you....

Kristina's Color Challenge #22

This was a real challenge... "Bravo Burgundy" is not a color I gravitate to.. I would much rather use "Purely Pomegranate" or "Rose Red"... In all the years of using Stampin'Up products I have never used it.. Thanks Kristina for the little shove in it's direction..... On the other hand I love "Soft Sky" and love the opportunity to continue using it... I miss it in the catalog... I did stock up on all things "Soft Sky" of course... The first thing that came to my mind to use was the "Always" Stamp set.. I wanted to use the bird... It was going to be the traditional blue bird of happiness. We always had one in our kitchen window growing up and My mother gave me one for my window when I got married... It defiantly works.. We have always had enough to eat and cooking makes me happy.. And when I have to do the dishes I have a little reminder that I am truly blessed that I have the Kitchen the center of our home....

I wanted the bird to look kinda fanciful so I wanted the "Baroque Motif" stamp set to look like the plume of bird... I dressed it with "ice-stickles" and Rhinestones...  I used my "Stampin Write" marker and first colored the stamp with "Regal Rose" then Highlighted it with "Rose Red" . I recycled the three polka-dot dots (thats a mouth full) from scrap that were laying on my table from the previous project.. I used the ""Eastern Blooms" stamp set and punched out the center of the circle with the small circle punch and added dimentionals and Crystal Effects of course..
I added layer of Card stock and stamped "French Script" as a background accent. I used the Template from the "Stampin' Up Paper Piercer" and a "Versa Marker" to draw the dots on the paper strip under the bird.. I added the sentiment from the "Stampin'Up Rub-ons" add tied it off with the silver cording from "Stampin' Up"  The Bird looks a little distressed but it's really just the edges colored a little darker with the "Soft Sky". I used the Blender pen to create a "Soft Sky" Marker because this color was not ever sold as a marker...

The little Blue Bird in my kitchen window.

Come join along with us in the challenge...

Khristina Color Challenge #14 "Hey Cupcake"

YA! I made the challenge in time. This will qualify for 2 challenges. Kristina's color challenge and Taylors Cupcake challenge.. YES a two for one!! I love the color combination she pick some of them really push me to look at thing in a new way.. I really hope she will use the in-colors that are retiring this catty in the future.  I have been trying to use my stamps that will be retiring with this catty this last little while. I have even had to "cut rubber" on some of them. How sad it that. It's a sign that I might have to many stamp sets.. Who am I kidding you can never have to many stamp!!! This adorable cupcake stamp is from a Stampin'Up level 2 hostess set called "Cause for Celebration" I forgot that I even had this set and almost selected it on my last order.. Big Huh!!  This stamp has a single candle that is in the middle of the cupcake I just masked it if with scotch tape while I inked it. I didn't even have to use my "Stamp-a-ma-gig" (don't look to close) I just use my grid paper to line it up on the paper... If you don't have the grid paper you must add it to your wish list.. It's a must. I let my customers keep the ones they use and extra on the table. The nest time they come to class they tell me how much they have been enjoying them.

HAPPY 4th of JULY to the U.S.A.
We are of to a big sleep over, Movies, Bike parade, neighborhood breakfast and flag ceremony, water party, snow cones and food of course.

Until tomorrow.
